Short film entitled, “Last Day Dream” by Chris Milk. An amazing piece, so watch it full screen, people. This is another addition in my ongoing series of lazy, short posts. When time allows, I’ll be more entertaining. Bare with me, folks…
Vinyl still persists as an undying trend with audiophiles. Their amount of use has never seemed to die out, even with the digital entry. Yet there are manufacturers who’ve kept pace with the transforming audio world, creating turntables that churn those vinyl records into digital fantasies. One novel addition to the ranks is Denon’s DP-200USB, a fully automatic turntable with a built-in MP3 encoder. The turntable in its modernity houses a USB port in the front, and allows for easy and automatic conversion of the vinyl into digital MP3 format, without the need of a PC. The $250 system interestingly transfers those records directly into the USB stick or PC hard drive, also tags MP3 tracks but is only compatible with Windows XP and Vista.
Swizz Beatz - School of Hard Knocks… This is probably my favorite brand of hip hop. That 90’s New York nitty, gritty rap. I like my drums to be dirty as hell. Gotta admit tho, not really that big of a Swizz Beatz fan, but i just happen to dig this jawn. Ghostface used the same Willie Hutch sample on “Buck 50″ off Supreme Clientele. The raps were better off the Ghost version, but the beat for Swizz’ version knocks! (no pun intended)
I’m late on this one… but i’ve been rockin these jawns by TiRon for the last few weeks. Modern day hip hop should take a queue. London’s sunny, warm weather helps me enjoy this kind of ear candy better.
Courtesy of Korean filmmaker Park Chan-Wook (Old Boy and Sympathy For Lady Vengence) comes his new project entited, Thirst. I’ve been waiting for this movie to drop for a while now and it’s good to see that Chan-Wook managed to get Universal to back him up on this one (which is weird considering it’s a Korean release). Park’s style of directing is unlike anyone else out there right now. His movies are sick and twisted, yet beautiful. Irony~!
And speaking of Hollywood, I heard that there was gonna be an American remake of my favorite Chan-Wook flick, Old Boy… Honestly, i know that it’ll get ruined so i have substantially low expectations for it. Unnecessary Hollywood remakes of Korean/HK/Japanese always fail (unless you’re talking about The Departed, which wasn’t too shabby i guess)… But getting back on topic, Thirst looks bananas. Hit the trailer below. Ichi~!
Here’s one of my favorite shorts entitled Vincent by director/animator Tim Burton. This was made in 1982 (before I was even born), but the sound design in it is amazing! Burton’s twisted, gothic feel is ever-present as he guides you through the very imaginative and disturbed mind of Vincent Price. This makes me want to re-watch The Corpse Bride…
A new electronic item at home usually means finding an appropriate place where you can aesthetically place it and find an empty power source. Who wants messy wires! A difficult situation, but yes sometimes it does mean rearranging some stuff. Movable Power looks to be that handy option where you just move the power strip according to your convenience. “This power strip allows you do change the strip, not your space.” -Jeff Carter (designer)
The iamaKey by LaCie, inventive storage meets data protection. The key-shaped design is functional and memorable, and the protection that the LaCie iamaKey offers makes it extremely reliable. The USB key comes in 4GB and 8GB…
A USB key! Oohhhh snap! lol I kinda wish I had one of these… simply because of the fact that i hate my keys being cluttered on the keychain. It’s a neat-freak thing.
